Trunk or Treat

For someone who doesn't really care for Halloween, we managed to celebrate it 4 times(It actually would have been 5 times but we skipped an event!)  I'm going to have to do something differently next year, I just don't know what.  It seems there should be this many celebrations for Christmas or Easter  not for Halloween, oh well.  I mean heck, one of the parties was at MY house!  Go figure.  Well anyway here are some more terribly cute pictures of kids in costumes eating too much candy.

Our church hosts a "Trunk or Treat" event where a bunch of people dress up their cars and the kids can get treats in a safe "unscary" environment.  The rule is no scary, bloody or otherwise inappropriate costumes.  We had lots of fun with Pooh and Buzz!

Hey Kanga boy look at those goats!!!

Pooh and her tummy full of "hunny!"
there was ALOT of loli sharing going on!

We actually went trick or treating on Halloween too.  Timmy, Jamie and I went to my parents house and did their little circle.  Jamie got really scared of one of the houses that had fog and scary music coming from the yard.  It really made me want to quit and go home.  I'm not sure why people have to go there.  Why not just give out candy and call it a day?  Timmy, Pop Pop and I took Jamie around the neighborhood and after he got over being scared we all had a really good time.  But like I said before, we're not doing all of this next year.  I'm just not a fan.

Grandparents Day Harvest Party

Today we had a party at preschool!  (Not that everyday isn't a party with 8 children from 2 years old to 4 years old and all their younger siblings!!!)  We celebrated God's creation of the harvest and invited all the grandparents to join us!  It went really well and once again I was shown how blessed we are to have this group.  God is good all the time, all the time He is good!

Pumpkin Gweedo

That is what Jamie named is Jack-o-lantern!  This evening we went with my MOPS group to Brad's Farm.  We had a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and Jamie pretty much picked the first pumpkin he saw.  It was pretty small, but I wasn't surprised since everything these days has to be "teeny-tiny" as far as Jamie is concerned.  It was much too small to carve so Daddy picked another one before we left.  We had a fantastic time carving our pumpkin and roasting seeds!

I love this camera. You can see in the previous pictures how dark it was outside.  But in this one I didn't use the flash and Timmy and Jamie were able to stay still so it wasn't blurry!  Look at that full moon!!!

We started a little tradition this year by  reading "The Pumpkin Patch Parable" before we carved our pumpkin.  The forward reads... "This book is NOT a celebration of Halloween...no ghosts, goblins, demons, witches or monsters here! ... I wanted to offer an alternative message for kids each autumn, something wholesome, positive and encouraging.  Since the Lord Himself created pumpkins, it seemed appropriate to redeem this familiar symbol of the harvest season for His good purpose."  Ok so , no I'm not totally anti-Halloween, but it is definitely not my favorite.  Yes, Jamie will dress and up and go trick-or-treating, but I am not a fan of the "ick" Halloween can be.

Jamie chose the shapes for the eyes and nose.

I am so thankful for my little family.  These small moments are my absolute favorite part of life.  Praise Jesus!
