Last Day of "Staycation"/ Homeschool Field Trip

So today we went to the National Zoo (The Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington DC). The weather was beautiful, I packed some PB&J and off we went. This zoo has FREE admission and it isn't really comparable to the Baltimore Zoo, it is pretty fantastic, not Disney quality, but very good indeed. However, to park for a day is $20 BUT we didn't have to pay!!! We left after closing time and there was no on there to take our money! We had lots of fun!!!

Our first stop was the "Kid's Farm." Of course this was Jamie's favorite. Jamie is investigating his favorite part of a cow (and me for that matter!)

These rooms make me really excited for future home school field trips in late elementary and middle school. They are full of information on the Amazon!

Jamie being a prairie dog! Unfortunately this was short lived because another dear child was being a dinosaur instead of a prairie dog and roared in Jamie's face at which point Jamie ran to me asking for nummy.

DunzoSo for some reason after he fell asleep I really really wanted to recline his stroller so he'd be laying down. Every time I tried to do this he woke up. After about the 4th time I did it, he was ticked and demanded to nummy. The weaning is really going super!

After we left the zoo we headed over to Chevy Chase for a bite to eat. Then we checked out a toy store and got kicked out because they were closing so we headed to the Barnes and Noble to play for a while. Baby boy fell asleep in the car. God is good.

Daddy is off this week...

Timmy has some time off this week and while we REALLY wanted to go to the beach, we REALLY don't have the money so we are having a "staycation." On Monday we celebrated labor day with family and yesterday we went hiking and wading in the river (sorry no pictures!) and after Jamie's nap we went to a field of sunflowers about 20 minutes away from us. We did our best with our D90, but until we really learn how to use it this is all we get!

Labor Day

Well let me just start this post by saying I did not take one picture all day long! I can't even believe it, I just completely forgot. And when I remembered it was when everyone was about to leave (Caleb was wearing a sombrero , t-shirt and diaper riding Jamie's rocking horse!!!). Oh well, we did have a great day. We missed the Wilsons but Aunt Gail, Sarah, Jason, Caleb, Poppy and my mom made it over for a little BBQ and crabs. Poor Jason was quite ill, but managed to eat a few of the 3 dozen crabs Timmy got. (We have 20 left over if anyone would like to come eat crabs at our house today!). We also had hot dogs, fruit, mac salad, potato salad, corn, brownies and ice cream. Yummy. Baby Miller has been asking for fruit so Sarah mostly ate that and took the rest home with her!!! Being pregnant rocks (no, I'm not being sarcastic). Jamie and Caleb had a great time. They watched "Road Rally" played cars, bat, sandbox, tractor and had lots of fun in the school room. Aunt Gail, Mommy, Sarah and I caught up on our girlie conversations, mostly about the upcoming Disney trips. Timmy and Jason talked about football the entire time (who would uh guessed!) Any way I'm so glad everyone came out. I so wished we lived closer together (in the same house would be ideal!!!!!)
